I'D RATHER BE SAILING OR WRITING A BOOK...

When the weather is "outdoor" right with a good breeze, I head for the water and sail away. When the weather is "indoor right", I pick up pen and paper and become a creative writer. And I wonder "Do other Rice graduates do the same?"
So it is that I had an idea to assemble a group of sailors and writers from the legions of my Rice Alumni classmates. And I called it the "RASCALS", an acronym for the "Rice Alumni Sailing Club and Literary Society". Neat, huh?
I figure that out of the thousands of Rice Alumni living in the greater Houston area, there must be at least a hundred of them who are active sailors and/or creative writers. Now all I have to do is locate those people and invite them to join our new special interest group for sailing and writing. Stay tuned, we might be contacting each other if those are your interests too.

Hey Don,
I'm sorry to say I'm not a Rice graduate, but your blog caught my attention. It's propably the interests, as you say - I'm also a sailing- and writing-lover. Apart from that we've got propably nothing in common - I'm sixteen and live in Poland - after the Iraqui stuff I hope you know where it is :)Anyway, I wish your R.A.S.C.A.L.S. project all the best and have a nice cruise! What are you heading for ? And where have you been sailing so far ? Are there any lakes in Huston that are convenient ? I've got to admit that I don't know which part of the U.S. is that.
Apart from my favourite Polish lakes - Mazury - I've been on the Baltic and Northern Sea - both rather cold, but completely terrific. I'm gonna try the Adriatic this year - got a little fed up with temperatures below 5*C ;)
If you want, write to me at agrafka_af@poczta.onet.pl
Bye!
